Dr. Larry D. Sumerlin earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston in 1979 and is happy to bring his many years of experience to the residents of McAllen and surrounding communities. He and his office team speak both English and Spanish. He chose the field of Optometry after making many trips to the eye doctor with his mother, who was extremely farsighted. The fact that the eye doctor was able to help his mother see sparked an interest that he followed through on. In addition to comprehensive eye exams, Dr. Sumerlin’s office specializes in contact lens fittings and emergency eye care needs. When away from the office, Dr. Sumerlin loves watching football – especially Team Brady (Tampa Bay) and the Cowboys. This is a VSP Premier location and the office also accepts most other vision insurances.
