Bio:

Dr. Melina Perez, a Texas native, has spent the past year working alongside an oculoplastic and cataract surgery ophthalmologist. Throughout the past year she has gained extensive experience in diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular diseases; including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. She graduated from UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio where she completed her externships in a variety of clinical settings. While at Fort Sam Houston, she attended the eye care needs of active and retired military personnel. Prior to that she completed a clinical rotation in Fort Worth where the primary focus was on ocular diseases. Before deciding to attend optometry school, Dr. Perez worked as an optometric technician for five years where she gained experience in patient care. Dr. Perez also participated in a mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico where she volunteered in conducting medical and vision exams for underprivileged communities.
